I am a 34 year veteran teacher and currently a TOSA (teacher on special assignment) overseeing the implementation of 15 student advocacy centers (SAC), 24 On Campus Intervention Programs (OCI), and 2 Restorative Practice Model school sites from our district office. I began my career as a science teacher and have served on multiple committees, expulsion panels, and have lead both school and district committees such as the science department, science chairs, WASC, instructional leaders and professional learning teams as well as starting two Career Academies at two different school sites. In 2008, I earned my administrative credential and began working in the dean’s office as the assistant dean. In 2014, I began the push for implementing PBIS from the dean’s office. My passion for helping students recognize their potential was never stronger. In 2017, my ardent belief for both accountability and second chances developed into a pilot program for student advocacy centers after being trained in Restorative Practices, Circles, and SEL to name a few. That pilot program is now being implemented in 15 of our 19 comprehensive high schools in our district with great success.
