KHSD PD Summer Series (Group B)

Q. Do I have to sign up for all four days?
A. No. You may participate in 1, 2, 3, or 4 days of PD; however, you must commit to the entire six (6) hours of any day to receive compensation.

Q. How many hours can I get paid?
A. Certificated employees will be paid 6 hours a day for a total of up to 24 hours for the week.

Q. What is the schedule?
A. The day runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Monday and Thursday schedules are up to the site. Group A sites will start at Independence on Tuesday and finish at CTEC on Wednesday. Group B will do the opposite. Tuesday and Wednesday are each broken into five one-hour blocks.
*For employees transferring from one site to another for next year, sign up with your new site.

Q. I don’t see my site’s name in either group. Which one do I choose?
A. If your job site is not listed, you sign up with “District” (Group A). This includes all SPED and satellite sites.

Q. I’m presenting at the conference. Do I need to sign up?
A. Presenters do not need to sign up. If you have a break in presenting and would like to attend another session, you are welcome to do so.

Q. Can I work other certificated summer hours (joint committee, summer counseling, etc.) in addition to or instead of these hours during PD week?
A. The week of June 29-July 2 is reserved for Summer PD only. All other classifications of hours may be completed before or after this week as determined by site administration.

Q. Will there be Summer Teams Rollouts via Zoom on Monday (6/29)?
A. This year, our Summer Teams will create Looms instead of holding synchronous Zooms. We will share the entire Loom menu with site administrators to schedule as they see fit.

Q. How do I sign up for the site days (Monday/Thursday)?
A. This is up to the site. Sites will have a sign-in process and timecards available on Monday and Thursday. For employees transferring from one site to another for next year, you will attend site PD days at your new site.

Q. Where do I check in at Independence?
A. Everyone starts at the gymnasium at Independence High School.

Q. Where do I check in at CTEC?
A. You will go directly to your first session. Follow the lobby signs to find your classroom.

Q. Do I need to bring anything?
A. We recommend bringing a district-issued device if you have one. Chromebooks will also be available in sessions as needed.

Q. Will lunch be provided?
A. The Southwest Market pop-up vendors will be set up around the track at Independence High School. Lunch options will be available for purchase, and seating will be available on the field. The IHS gym and CTEC building will remain open during lunch. Participants may also select to leave for lunch. The closest food selections are at Old River Ranch Shopping Center at the corner of Old River Road and Panama Lane.

Q. Will there be transportation available if I am unable to walk long distances?
A. Shuttle/cart services will be available to and from the parking lots and the stadium as needed.

Q. When is the deadline to sign up?
A. There is no hard deadline; however, we recommend signing up for your sessions ASAP because space in each session is limited.

Q. Where do I get a timecard?
A. Timecards will be issued, collected, and processed at the site. Extra timecards will be available at Independence and CTEC; however, they must still be turned in to the home site. For employees transferring from one site to another for next year, you will submit your timecard at the new site.
